2 Soldiers Allegedly Assaulted By Residents At Dome Faase Over Land

Some residents of Dome Faase near Obom in the Greater Accra Region have been accused of assaulting two soldiers over a land in the area.

The soldiers had clashed with the residents while protecting the piece of land for the Mponuahene of Akyem Apedwa who they claim is the owner.

Two other residents also sustained gunshot wounds during the clash.

Speaking to Adom News, the soldiers said the residents had been demonstrating against the ownership of the land when the incident happened.

One of them, only known as Clement, said that they had given warning shots in hopes to calm the agitated residents down so they could start a conversation on why they (soldiers) were on the land.

However, the residents who doubted the two men were soldiers began to beat them, he narrated.

Clement’s partner had blood on his face and chest. The uniforms of both soldiers had been ripped.

“Their leader came there and we informed him that we are not criminals. So if there is anything else, exercise patience and lead us to your chief or wherever then we continue,” he pleaded.

Clement said their pleas and cries of innocence fell on deaf ears as residents continued to beat them adding “but we are not criminals.”

Meanwhile, the leader of the mob claimed a team of armed land guards had been terrorising the people in the area.
