Pumpkins Foundation Commemorates National Children’s Day

“Society couldn’t have been more concerned about the future of its children than now” - Baisiwa Dowuona-Hammond, Founder and Chairperson - Pumpkins Foundation.

In its 41st year of the celebration of Ghana National Children’s Day, the Pumpkins Foundation wishes to reflect on the above quote, as the country marks the day, today.

August 31, every year is celebrated as National Children’s Day. A day set aside to focus on the work of all actors committed to the rights of children.

The day also seeks to raise awareness on the status of the Ghanaian child, while challenging stakeholders to develop programmes that would enhance the situation of children in the country.

As a child-focused organization, the Pumpkins Foundation continues to dedicate its work to the promotion of the general wellbeing of all children, especially the poor and needy ones, their families and the communities in which they live.

In our efforts to help children to reach their full potential while empowering them to be agents of change to help their own, we are hopeful that our future leaders would begin to look out for themselves and work together in an effort to break and bridge the barriers of discrimination among them.

Indeed we have a responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of all children and to hold accountable the actors of society whose mandate it is to ensure that the rights of the Ghanaian child is protected and upheld andto give them a voice on issues that relate to them.

On National Children’s day today, the Pumpkins Foundation salutes every child of the land with a call for massive support in all sectors for the benefit and development of our future leaders as this is what will determine where we are headed as a country.

Our Children deserve the very best and for us as a child-oriented group, we will continue to contribute our quota as part of our core values in promoting and supporting child development and wellbeing through empowerment programs that focuses on forging a more compassionate network of all future generations, irrespective of their background.

We remain committed in our work with families, communities and statutory bearers through various interventions, aimed at improving the quality of life of every Ghanaian child.

The Founder and Chairperson, Board of Trustees, Executive Directors (Ghana/ USA) and all the hardworking staff including dedicated Volunteers of the Pumpkins Foundation invites all Ghanaians, home and abroad to join in this august celebration.

We implore you to ensure that Ghanaian children, wherever they may be, especially in these uncertain times of the COVID-19 pandemic, experience the love, safety backed by all the support they need to realize their potentials.

Together we can build a more robust future for a better Ghana.
