Asantehene Gold Cup On

The 54TH Annual Asantehene Gold Cup, which is played by seasoned golfers from Ghana and beyond, will take place at the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi, this Saturday. The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will on Friday morning play in a curtain raiser in a four-hole event with MTN officials and President of the club, Prof. Plange Rhule. The three-day event is being sponsored by telecommunication giant, MTN and as usual the cr�me-de-la-cr�me in golf in the country and beyond are billed to take part in the lucrative tournament. Competition would be played in Men Scratch, Men Handicap, Men Support, Ladies Scratch, Ladies Handicap, Ladies Support, Professionals, Seniors and Youth. The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II would personally present prizes to distinguished golfers at a colourful ceremony at the Royal Golf Club on Sunday afternoon. At stake at the highly competitive tournament are mind-blowing prizes including a cash prize of GH�15,000 for the winner in the Professionals category. Francis Donkor-Baah, Vice Captain, Royal Golf Club, who disclosed this to DAILY GUIDE SPORTS, said he was anticipating stiff competition this year. He noted that top-notch golfers have already confirmed their participation in the tournament, urging the teeming golf fans in Kumasi and beyond to grace the occasion to make it memorable.
