Establish Public University In Nchumuru

A retired Training College tutor and Head of Inspectorate Department of Ghana Education Service, Nana Obrimpong Kanya II has made a strong appeal to government to consider establishing a public University in Nchumuru in the newly created Oti region.

The former educationist who said a petition in respect of that followed with discussions on it are advanced with government, also appealed for the building of boarding facilities for the Nchumuruman Senior High School in Chinderi the district capital of Nchumuru.

Nana Obrimpong Kanya II as the Paramount Chief of the Nchumuru Traditional Area lauded the NPP government under President Akufo-Addo for showing leadership in continuing with uncompleted projects initiated by the previous NDC government under Ex-President John Mahama. He mentioned the Damabi bitumen surfacing road through Nchumuru to Kete Krachi and the Nchumuru District Assembly office complex as some examples.

Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs and people of Nchumuru in Chinderi to welcome Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his entourage including the Oti Regional Minister Hon Owusu Yeboah on a campaign tour of the area last Thursday, Obrimpong Kanya touted the Akufo-Addo government for the warehouse project in Nchumuru, the roll-out of Free Senior High School education, restoration of teacher and nursing training allowances, NABCO, planting for food and jobs and the ambulance in his district.

Without mincing words, he bemoaned the deplorable state of roads in the district with Grubi, Bejamse, Banda, Borai Boafri, and Banda roads as those requiring urgent attention of government.

Nana Obrimpong Kanya as the longest-serving member of the Regional House of Chiefs and President of Nchumuru Traditional Council was full of appreciation for the Akufo-Addo government for giving a befitting facelift to the National House of Chiefs office complex in Kumasi.

As a member of the National House, he urged government to extend similar assistance to Traditional Councils across the country since they are State institutions.

The Nchumuruhene once again seized the opportunity to graciously commend government for granting the plea of the people of Nchumurus in citing the Oti Regional Capital in Dambai. He remarked that Nchumuru people are not ingrates, they will fully bear that and others in mind in the upcoming December polls.
