Former President and flagbearer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended his campaign following the death of former Jerry John Rawlings and Founder of the party.

John Mahama was on a six-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region.

In a tweet, he said: "I have announced the suspension of my tour of the Ashanti Region and all NDC campaigns across the country, following news of the passing of our Founder and former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings.
May his soul Rest In Peace".
