Churches Urged To Help Fight Social Vices

Deacon Abraham Asare, Head of the Family Life Enrichment Department of the Cedar Mountain Chapel, Assemblies of God Ghana, has expressed worry about indiscipline, drug abuse and the get-rich-quick attitude among the youth.

He noted that in spite of proliferation of churches in the country, such acts continued to be on the ascendancy.

Deacon Asare was speaking at the end of this year’s Family Life Enrichment Week celebration of the church at East Legon in Accra on Sunday.

The celebration, which was on the theme, “How To Make Your Family Great” was aimed at strengthening marriages towards the upbringing of responsible children who would contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.

Deacon Asare attributed the increasing number of social vices in the country to single parenting, the expansion of video and entertainment centres and urged the churches to intensify their evangelism to help curb the menace.

He called for peace and unity among marriage couples so that they could produce responsible children who would have the development of the nation at heart.

“If there is unity among husband and wife, the society becomes profound but if there’s no unity, it cripples the society and the nation as a whole,” Deacon Asare said.
He urged the youth to resist the temptation of being used by politicians as agents to foment trouble as the nations prepared for election 2020.

Reverend Dr Stephen Yenusom Wengam, Lead Pastor of the Church, appealed to couples to lead a Christ-like life at all times.
