Forgive Rawlings; There's No Way His Name Will Be Wiped Out Of Our History - A/R Minister Tells Ghanaians

Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah has asked Ghanaians who have been hurt by the late former President of Ghana, Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings to forgive him.

According to him, Mr. Rawlings like any human had his flaws but he also played a significant role in the development of the country.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Hon. Osei Mensah called on the nation to focus on the good things that the late former President did for Ghana and mourn his death with respect.

"If we were without sins, we wouldn't have been human beings . . . Let's look at good things he's done for the country and forgive him because we trespass against God all the time but He forgives us. Whether you like or not, the late Jerry John Rawlings introduced our constitution and democracy. He's done a lot for Ghana. There's no way his name will be wiped out of our history," he said.

He also extended his condolences to former First Lady and the deceased's wife, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings and the entire bereaved family.

Flt. Lt Jerry John Rawlings died on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at age 73.

He passed away at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
