Stop Inciting Your Supporters; You've Lost In Dignity - Charles Owusu To Mahama

Head of Operations of the Forestry Commission, Charles Owusu has cautioned former President John Dramani Mahama to stop inciting his party members and supporters to violently revolt against the election results which went in favour of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been declared President-elect by the Electoral Commission following the general elections on Monday, December 7, 2020.

He polled 6,730,587 representing 51.30% while Mr. Mahama, contesting on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), lost the elections by 6,213,182 votes representing 47.35%.

However, Mr. Mahama has refused to accept his defeat claiming election fraud.

"We will not accept anything short of a declaration of the legitimate results which points to an NDC Parliamentary majority," Mr. Mahama said as he described the election results as ''fictional''.

The former President, in his speech to Ghanaians, further made statements purporting the President-elect has stolen the mandate of the people.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, Charles Owusu has rebuked Mr. Mahama over his utterances.

He advised Mr. Mahama not to ruin his dignity as Ghanaians had congratulated him for giving the New Patriotic Party and the President-elect a run for their money in the elections.

"He has lost in dignity. I plead with him to minimize his threats and incitements," he said.

He messaged Mr. Mahama to note that just as Ghanaians voted against lots of NPP Members of Parliament, his utterances and actions could equally cost his party in 2024.

"You can decide to make the country ungovernable but we still have our thumbs. We can also decide to change them from Parliament just as the NPP has lost 33 MPs today, not just MPs but Ministers of State - majoriy of them. We don't have any other country should we destroy our country," he warned.
