Political Parties Embark On Ghana Peace Walk Today

The undersigned Political Party leaders contested in the 2020 General Elections organized by the Electoral Commission (EC) on the ticket of our respective parties are to embark on a Peace walk on Thursday 24th December 2020 at Obra Sport.

According to them, prior to the declaration of the Presidential and Parliamentary results  an intense protests and demonstrations erupted in some parts of the country of which some turned into violent.

In a statement copied to Peacefmonline.com is said to response to some of the issues whice arose at the just ended 2020 election.

" . . we have accepted the outcome of both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections," a part of the statement read.

Consequent to the declaration of the Presidential and Parliamentary results, intense protests and demonstrations have erupted in some parts of the country of which some have turned violent, and we wish to respond as follows:

1. That on our part, we have accepted the outcome of both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

2. That, notwithstanding, we appreciate the fact that there are persons who are aggrieved by the election results and we duly acknowledge their right to protest and demonstrate but however, impress strongly on them to do so in such a manner that ensure peace, tranquility and the protection of lives and property.

3. That we strongly admonish all individuals or groups who dispute the outcome of the elections to, in accordance of article 64 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, proceed to court since that is the only remedy for electoral disputes.

4. That as citizens and leaders of Political Parties in this country, it is our responsibility to protect Ghana’s democracy and promote sustainable peace at this crucial moment.

5. That on Thursday, 24th December, 2020 at exactly 5.30,* together with the good people of Ghana, we will embark on a “Peace Walk”, starting from Obra Sport at Circle, to send a strong message to all and sundry that Ghana stands in UNISON and we stand resolutely for PEACE.

We call on all Ghanaians to join the Ghana Peace Walk as a service to country and humanity.
