Opanyin Agyekum Hits Government Hard On Bad Roads

Dean of the School of Performing Arts at the University of Ghana, Professor Kofi Agyekum, popularly known as Opanyin Agyekum has called out the Akufo-Addo government for failing to complete some roads in the country.

Discussing road carnages in the country, Opanyin Agyekum wondered why till date, Ghana still has poor roads which are a major cause of accidents.

He cited the Eastern Corridor road which has since not been completed, asking ''what has led to the delay?''

Speaking to sit-in host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Opanyin Agyekum, making emphasis on the roads connecting the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions, implored the President to do everything possible to complete the roads as well as construct better roads in the country.

''We use our money to spend on unnecessary things while we know this road is killing people. The road project from here to Apedwa Junction commenced under erstwhile Kufour government. When did his tenure of office come to an end? . . . Now that NPP is in government, what's stopping you from completing the road?'' he questioned.

He also called on the appropriate authorities in the road sector to construct dual carriage roads to avoid accidents.
