Alleged Robbery AttackKMA Boss Contradicts Himself?

The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Samuel Sarpong, has sought to downplay media reports of an attempted robbery attack on his official residence over the week-end. According to him, the purported armed robbery attack was news to him because he has not experienced any such attack. The KMA Boss denial is in sharp contrast to an earlier revelation he made in an interview on Kumasi-based HelloFM, a sister station of PeaceFM. Mr. Samuel Sarpong had disclosed to King Edward, host of HelloFM on Akoko Abon on Saturday, May 21st, that the attack might have been motivated by allegations that a whopping sum of GHC90 million has been budgeted for President Mills second term bid to lead the NDC into elections in 2012 and that he (Mayor), was keeping GHC30 million meant to influence party delegates in the Ashanti Region. He was reacting to allegations by a member of the Friends Of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR), Dela Coffie on the same platform that the Mayor had organized thugs to assault supporters of Mrs. Rawlings. But speaking to Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview on Peace FMs Kokrokoo Morning Show, the Kumasi Mayor who initially denied the report, later said, the purported attack occurred at his former residence and not his current official place of abode. According to him, he paid a visit to his former residence with the wife only to realize that someone had tampered with the bugler proof doors and windows that lead to the bedroom. I dont know where this armed robbery report is coming from.because Ive not spoken to anybody about this not even the police. I visited my former residence which happened to be my own house with my wife only to realize that the bugler proof on the doors and windows leading to the bedroom have been tampered withIt was as if someone was trying to break into it but they failed to gain access into the room, he narrated. He further recounted that though the place is habited; the occupant usually leaves for work quite early in the morning and returns late at night. Asked if he had lodged a complaint with the police, he replied in the negative saying if the police has anything to investigate, it should be the GHC30 million allegation before they can move on to any other issue.
