Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase constituency, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka is currently the topic of the day following some allegations he made against a Supreme Court Judge and his subsequent action after the allegations.

Hon. Muntaka claimed a Justice of the Supreme Court had attempted to bribe a National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) to induce her in the election of a Speaker of Parliament.

On hindsight, the honourable Parliamentarian has eaten humble pie and retracted his words.

''I therefore wish to retract same and apologise for the harm done to the image and reputation of my Lord Justices of the Supreme Court and the Judiciary as a whole. Based upon good counsel, I have also decided to let sleeping dogs lie and will consequently refrain from any further public commentary on the matter which, as I have indicated was originally reported to me by a female colleague Parliamentarian.

“It is my fervent prayer that the existing historic cordial relations between the legislature and the judiciary will not be affected by this incident but will continue to grow in the interest of the country”, portions of his release read.

Some people like the Head of Psychology at the University of Ghana, Professor Joseph Osafo, have also appealed on behalf of Hon. Muntaka for his forgiveness.

But the former Awutu Senya West MP, George Andah thinks otherwise.

According to him, Hon. Muntaka's statement shouldn't be ignored but rather called for its logical conclusion.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" programme, George Andah wondered why Hon. Muntaka would make such allegations without having substantial evidence to back them.

In his candid opinion, he said; ''I can't think far. I can't think madness. How? You're a Member of Parliament; you have certain responsibilities. You can go on a TV station; nobody pushed you to say what you said but you claim you have evidence that a Supreme Court Judge was influencing a colleague female Member of Parliament . . . Are you telling us you didn't do any investigations before making such utterances? These people just want to scandalize the Supreme Court because of the election petition . . . My opinion is this must go to its logical conclusion.''
