Gareth Bale 'Is Considering Retiring After Euro 2020 With a Pay-off From Real Madrid'

Gareth Bale could be considering the sensational step of walking away from football altogether after Euro 2020.

The Wales star, who spent last season on loan at Tottenham from Real Madrid, has refused to be drawn on talk of his future, insisting in recent days that his focus is firmly on the job ahead for his country at the European Championships.

The 31-year-old has hinted that he has his plan for this summer mapped out already, but suggested that he would not divulge the information just yet, because it would 'cause chaos'.

However, ABC in Spain are now suggesting that Bale is now plotting to bring a swift end to his illustrious career by negotiating the end of his contract with Real and walking away from the sport altogether.

The Spanish paper reports that the superstar has held discussions with his family over the move to end his playing days and that he could be willing to give up as much as half of his final year's salary in a bid to terminate his deal and walk away from the Spanish capital.

Speaking after Tottenham's final-day victory over Leicester City, Bale insisted that he was not in a position to reveal his future plans as yet.

'It just has to happen after the Euros,' he told Sky Sports. 'I know what I'm doing but it'll just cause chaos if I say anything now.

'I am not thinking about anything other than Wales.'
