Sports Federation Will Take Advantage Of Newly Recruited Technical Staff – NSA Boss

Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof Peter Twumasi is confident, various sports federations in Ghana will take advantage of the human resource availability at the NSA to enhance sports development.

The Sports Authority in June 2021 after securing financial clearance from the finance ministry recruited an appreciable number of new staff of about Two Hundred and Fifty (250) to augment and fill various vacancies to oversee the management of old and new stadia across the country.

The NSA, also seeking to operationalize sports development of the six new Regional Secretariat with staff then invited persons with the skill and qualification to apply for vacancies like Coaches (all sporting disciplines), Sports Development Officers, Finance Officers/Accountants, IT Officers, Public Relation Officers and many others.

Having successfully recruited all the qualified personnel into the Authority at the various secretariat, the NSA boss, Prof Peter Twumasi is optimistic, all the sports federations will benefit from the readily available coaches and technical staff of the Authority.

Speaking in an interview with Kumasi based LUV FM on Ghana’s featherweight boxer Samuel Takyi’s achievement the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where he won bronze to end Ghana’s 29 year wait for an Olympic medal, Prof Twumasi indicated, coach of the Black Bombers Mr Ofori Asare will now have more personnel within the technical team at the NSA to train more boxers for the country.

“You know his [Samuel Takyi] coach, Mr Asare, he is a staff of the National Sports Authority and he has been very excellent in managing these athletes that he brought to Tokyo and I believe, he has a bigger plan to be able to entice many others.” He said.

“We have also boosted our technical strength in the authority thanks to the President, HE, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Mr Ofori [Attah], finance and our own minster Hon Mustapha Ussif for us to be able to get the clearance to recruit these new coaches.

“Hitherto most of them had retired and also resigned and the technical had been very challenging but with this new crop of technical people that we have gotten, the federations will take advantage of this human resource availability.

“Then more so, the President is also embarking upon this massive sports infrastructural development across the country for all the various sporting disciplines and these are all going to feed into our preparation and readiness for many other games to come.” He concluded.
