A four-day training on Wide Area Network and Wireless Fidelity (WAN &WIFI), an Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Ghanaian and Liberian expertise in the field has been organised in Accra. The training which was organised by Arrow Network Systems, under the Ghana Free Zones came out as an opportunity for Ghana and Liberia to unify their relationship both social and related field. In his closing speech, the Minister for Trade and Industry, Ms. Hannah Tetteh, said 50 percent of the trainees are Liberians who are being sponsored by the Ghana Government in pursuit of other manpower development agenda and for building, Wide Area Network for its Integrated Financial and Management Information Systems (IFMIS) projects. She added that the participants who have already gone through this training session include two sets of trainees from Sierra Leone, a trainee from the Republic of Benin as well the Social Security and National Insurance Trust, (SSNIT) the Electricity Company of Ghana, (ECG) First Atlantic Merchant Bank Limited, Toyota Limited among others. Ms. Hannah Tetteh noted that it is gratifying that a Ghanaian company such as Arrow Network Systems has specialized in this kind of technology. She was happy that other West African countries were benefiting from such expertise through the training workshops. The Minister noted that the Arrow Network Systems Company is operating in the free zones enclave which indicates government policy to attract investment in the ICT centre through the Free Zones Concept. She added that government is using this vehicle to transfer high technological expertise into Ghana stressing that, the level of success attained, further confirms government decision in 1995 to introduce the free zone concept into Ghana and the inclusion of ICT sector in the free zones concept is yielding dividends for Ghana and the West African sub-region. The Chief Executive Officer of Arrow Network Systems, Mr. Kwaku Boadu, was happy that Sierra Leone, Liberia and other West Africa have responded to the call of upgrading their expertise in ICT. Certificates were awarded to participants who successfully went through the training.
