The KLM flight that was grounded at the Kotoka International Airport by a bird strike did not have its engine affected, the Ghana Airport Company Limited has said.

The strike affected an area close to the Amsterdam-bound plane’s windshield.

The passengers had to be disembarked and transported to their hotels after the incident.

“The airline has commenced processes to get passengers back to their final destinations as soon as possible,” a statement from GACL said.

The authorities have launched investigations into the bird strike.

GACL further assured that it has a robust Wildlife Management System in place and “remains committed to the highest safety standards at the airport.”
