Guinea Coup: Yaw Buaben Asamoa Scolds ECOWAS & AU

NPP National Communications Director, Yaw Buaben Asamoa has rebuked the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and African Union (AU) over the current situation in the People's Republic of Guinea.

A Military unit headed by a former French legionnaire, Lt Col Mamady Doumbouya with his soldiers, on Sunday, September 5, 2021, detained Guinea's President Alpha Condé in a coup attempt.

The Military takeover has become a matter of concern to Africans, particularly Ghana as some fear it may have a ripple effect on the nation.

But to Mr. Buaben Asamoa, the Guinea's situation may be far from reaching Ghana stating President Nana Akufo-Addo is a peaceful and democratic leader.

He believed there will be a smooth transition of power from President Akufo-Addo to an NPP Presidential candidate during the 2024 elections, however this will happen within the limits of the laws.

Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoa took shots at the ECOWAS and AU partly blaming them for the hapenings in Guinea.

To him, the Guinean situation might have been averted if the two bodies had proactively acted when the signs were clear.

He asked ECOWAS and AU to be up and doing, therefore sanction African leaders whose actions breach the countries' laws before it escalates into chaos.

''Shut up any peron who engages in devious activites. ECOWAS and AU must develop strong teeth'', he told host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo''.
