MMDCEs Hullabaloo: This Is Primitive & Needless - Miracles Aboagye Pans Rioters

A member of the Communication team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has described as "needless" and "primitive" the pockets of violence recorded following the release of the MMDCEs nominations.

The Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Botwe released the list of nominees which was made up of 222 men and 38 women a few days ago.

However, this announcement has generated rancour and the destruction of properties.

In Chereponi, over 10 persons were arrested for vandalizing some properties following the nomination of Zuwera Mada Nashiru as the area’s District Chief Executive.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye speaking to this on Peace FM's 'The Platform' programme, bemoaned the fact that such things keep happening term after term.

"I’ve never seen any president changing his mind because of an agitation and yet people keep doing it . . . I think it's primitive for such things to happen in 2021, just because your preferred person was not nominated. The worrying thing is the reason they give for their actions. This is nothing to kill or destroy properties over; this nomination is service to the nation and so why fight over this? Is it compulsory to even serve? I think it’s needless".

Dennis Miracle who thinks Akufo-Addo's list of MMDCE nominees was a pursuit for stability, continuity and consolidation, called for a different approach to be adopted in choosing MMDCEs.

"Going forward we need to look at how the MMDCEs are nominated; is it sustainable or not. I think this should be the last time we go through such a difficult moment," he added.
