Presidential Jet: NDC Is Only Making Noise - Mame Yaa Aboagye

Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, Mame Yaa Aboagye has waded into the discussions on the purchase of a new Presidential aircraft.

According to her, the NDC’s rejection of the new Presidential jet is nothing but a pretense as she believes they want to come into power “only if it will be possible” to enjoy the jet.

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has been detailing what he says is profligate expenses on the part of the President Nana Akufo-Addo to use tax payer’s money to charter private aircraft for his foreign trips.

The government has however justified the President’s use of private jet with an excuse that the country’s aircraft is not fit for travels and also has limited spaces for his entourage.

The Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin told journalists there are plans to acquire a new and bigger aircraft to serve the purposes of the office.

Government is already in the process of acquiring a bigger jet for use,” he said.

Mame Yaa Aboagye, contributing to the ongoing discussions, lauded the government over their plan to purchase a new Presidential jet but slammed the NDC by calling out the party’s hypocrisy.

They have done it before Under President Kufour’s regime ; these people described the decision to purchase planes for the Presidency as a flamboyant lifestyle and later came and made use of the Falcon jet which was acquired. They accused former President Kufour of engaging in extravagance with the decision to construct a new presidential edifice for the country and swore with their blood that if given the mantle of leadership, they would never use it. In fact, they promised to use the place to rear chicken. So they always oppose everything good by the NPP government but will later turn around and use it without any shame”, she stated.
