Gbi State Announces The Passing Of Togbega Gabusu VI To Joe Ghartey

On Thursday, the 4th day of November 2021, a delegation of Eleven (11) led by Togbe Osei III from the Gbi Traditional Council (Hohoe), paid a courtesy call on their son, Hon. Joe Ghartey officially announce the passing of TOGBEGA GABUSU VI who was the Paramount Chief of the Gbi Traditional Area.

The visit was also to formally invite Hon. Joe Ghartey to the burial service of the Late Togbega which is scheduled on the 11th of December, 2021 in Hohoe. The leader of the delegation mentioned in his speech that it was important to call on Hon Joe Ghartey, because of the deep bond he has with the Gbi Community.

He also stated that the people of Gbi recognize the membership of Hon. Ghartey in the community not forgetting his relationship and activities with the Late Togbega for which they cannot have such an important event without informing him.

Hon. Joe Ghartey in his speech thanked the entourage for such a wonderful honour done him. He affirmed his membership as a citizen of the Volta Region when he said “…I always say I’m a Voltarian by choice”.

He further recounted how he fell in love with the city of Hohoe the very first day he visited the place over forty years ago. He was adopted by a family in Gbi Kpeme (Hohoe)of which he is still a member. He also spoke about the relationship he had with the Late Togbega Gabusu VI and assured the delegation that he will honour their invitation because the Late Chief was like a Father to him. He once again thanked them for their visit.

The delegates from the Gbi Traditional Council were; Togbe Osei III (Divisional Chief of Gbi Godenu-Hohoe); Mamaga Agoe-Dewotornyo I (Paramount Queen Mother of Gbi Traditional Area); Togbe Ayim III (Sub Divisional Chief of Gbi-Bla); Mamaga’s Linguist; Amu Kingsley (Mamaga’s Father); Adiku Happy; Kosi Adzima (Security to Mamaga); Innocent Kuami; Ekpe Johnson (Rep from Gbi-Kpeme); Afi Adjagbo (Planning Committee Member); and Ken Ayim (Planning Committee Member). Also in attendance were Abdulai Suala (Volta Region Deputy Nasara Cordinator of the NPP), Evelyn Gaku (Hohoe Constituency Women Organizer) Steve Qwaqu Klu (2nd Vice Chairman, Afadjato South)and Evelyn Tetteh , Member NPP Hohoe Constituency.
