Ghana FA Negotiating Two More Friendlies For Pre-AFCON Training Camp

The Ghana FA is working to secure two additional friendlies for the Black Stars as part of preparations ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be staged in Cameroon.

The four-time AFCON champions will open camp in Qatar on December 22 for three weeks before flying out to Yaoundé on January 7 for the tournament.

The FA has already secured a high-profile friendly game against defending champions Algeria which will be played on January 5, 2022, in Qatar.

This will be a good test for the Black Stars ahead of their opening Group C game against North African side Morocco.

In a statement from the GFA, there are plans to secure a low profile friendly game with a club side in Qatar and plans to get another friendly with a team qualified for the AFCON that will also camp in Qatar.

The first friendly game is scheduled to be played on December 28 against a club side which is yet to be confirmed.

The FA is also hoping to get another friendly for the Black Stars on New Year’s Day against any AFCON bound team.

The final preparatory game will be against Algeria on January 5 before the team departs to Cameroon for their first game on January 9, 2022.

Ghana is in Group C alongside Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
