Why Are You In a Hurry To Unseat President Akufo-Addo? - Charles Owusu Asks NPP Aspirants

Charles Owusu has cautioned members of the govening New Patriotic Party(NPP) against contesting for Presidential candidate position of the party while the party hasn't yet opened room for internal campaigns and contests.

The leadership of the NPP has warned their members and supporters not to engage in internal contests.

In a statement ahead of the party's delegates conference this Saturday, the leaders warned their members and supporters not to mount billboards nor campaign for any person.

“Prior to and during the conference from December 18 to 20, 2021, no billboards and or signboards, banners or any kind of outdoor signage with the images and or names of individual members, with or without the consent of the individual, shall be acceptable. This applies to the area within the Greater Kumasi Metropolis. All such displays, if put up already, should be removed.”

"Any person, with or without his or her consent, whose image is flaunted on any advocacy material and who does not take active steps to desist from any public display of aspiration for a position within the precincts of Greater Kumasi runs a higher risk of disqualification in the event nominations are declared open," portions of the statement read.

However, billboards of some aspirants in the party have been erected in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, in complete defiance with the order.

Joining a panel discussion on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'', Charles Owusu wondered why the aspirants are in a hurry to unseat the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who leads the party.

He admonished them to halt their activities and wait for the appropriate time to do their campaigns, stressing what they are doing now will spell doom for the NPP.

"Advise yourselves . . . what you are doing will bring issues. Get off your high horse. When we advise you, listen."
