Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen on Sunday, December 19, 2021, arrived at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for the New Patriotic Party's 2021 Annual Delegates Conference to an unsuspecting rousing welcome from party delegates and grassroots in the Ashanti Region.
The Minister who made a grand style entry to the conference had NPP faithful, well-wishers supporters and sympathizers chant to the glory set ahead of him. "It's Alan's Time", YÉ› nim no fri tete" "Time aso oo Time aso", "Eduru ne so".
As though that was not enough, the chants garnered enough momentum that everyone sang the praise of the minister to the admiration of all.
This comes up as a little bit surprising since there are abundant indicia that the NPP’s code of conduct and directives on posters and billboards of perceived presidential aspirants was targeted at Alan Kyerematen. The aim was to lessen his momentum. Even though Alan Cash and others have no poster or billboards in Kumasi, Dr. Bawumia still have his billboards erected around places like Suame.
However, like the day of Pentecost, this lifted the spirits of all causing them to fall under the Alan mode.
This charged the atmosphere that one would think it is was an Alan thank you tour.
According to the masses, for the NPP's tradition to go on, Mr. Alan Kyerematen must be given the mantle to lead the NPP to come 2024.
Dating back to the party's 2007 delegates conference, Mr. Kyerematen sacrificed for his President Akufo-Addo, the honour of being the party's flagbearer by not going for a re-run after the presidential primaries at Legon.
This sacrifice according to most NPP members needs to be rewarded and the time is now.
"He demonstrated statesmanship in 2007 and have what it takes to restore NPP and Ghana to its lost glory," a supporter said.
Though Mr. Kyerematen has not openly declared his intentions of contesting for the party's flagbearership, many have tipped him as the rightful person to succeed President Akufo-Addo.
