Man Allegedly Assaulted By Police Commander After “Sasabonsam” Name Tag

Yaw Atta known to operate a local information centre in Tarkwa in the Western Region has accused the area Police commander of assault.

Sharing his 'near-death' experience with sit-in host, Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Yaw Atta said the Tarkwa Police commander asked his "boys" (police officers) to beat him up for allegedly calling him "sasabonsam" to wit "Satan".

" . . six police officers handcuffed me and took me to the Tarkwa Police station. Then I was taken to the CID office and transferred to the Commander's office and was severely beaten until I became weak. When the Commander realized I was weak he asked the officers to take me away . . " 

Meanwhile, he has denied calling the Commander "sasabonsam".

The police commander, Chief Superintendent George Kumah, has however denied assaulting Yaw Atta.

Speaking on the same platform, he said, when the police officers "brought him to my office, there were already blood stains on his trousers. When I asked the officers what happened, they told me he fell".
