I Hid Under My Mother's Bed During 1981 Coup - Allotey Jacobs Warns Oliver Barker-Vormawor

Social commentator, Allotey Jacobs has recounted a scary moment in his life that he narrowly escaped danger because he was neck-deep in politics.

According to him, his mother's bed saved his life as he had to hide himself under the bed because some people had staged a coup in Ghana.

Allotey Jacobs made reference to this incident in his life as a way of advising Oliver Barker-Vormawor and his likes who are sounding war drums to desist from it.

The leader of #FixTheCountry protest, Oliver Barker-Vormawor was on Friday arrested by the Police for making coup comments on social media.

Mr. Barker-Vormawor, who recently led a protest against President Nana Akufo-Addo's government, posted on Facebook that ''if this E-Levy passes . . . I will do the coup myself. Useless Army!".

He was apprehended on arrival at an airport following a Police statement that "the post contained a clear statement of intent with a possible will to execute a coup in his declaration of intent to subvert the constitution of the Republic of Ghana".

He has been charged with treason felony.

To Allotey Jacobs, Mr. Barker-Vormawor and those calling for a coup have no idea about its impact on a nation.

"Do they know what a coup d'état looks like?'', he questioned.

Narrating his ordeal, he said; ''During 1981 coup . . . I went to hide under my mother's bed and my mother came warning me that I shouldn't have involved myself in politics . . . I don't know what is wrong with these men and I don't know what people are telling them."

He believed, "some people are encouraging these young boys to misbehave'' and advised them not to follow blindly stressing, "politics is destroying this country''.

He made these submissions on Peace FM's morning show ''Kokrokoo''.
