Seasoned journalist, Kwesi Pratt Hnr., has urged government to shift the economic burdens on foreign companies in the country to ease the pressures on Ghanaians.

Speaking in relation to the new fare increment proposed by transport unions, Kwesi Pratt fumed over the liberality of government towards foreign multinational corporations operating in Ghana.

Citing the Telecommunications companies earning much profits from Ghanaians while the country earns what could be termed as ''chicken change'' from the telecom sector, Mr. Pratt asked the government to shift her focus to these huge companies instead of heaping all burdens on Ghanaians.

Transport operators have agreed to adjust fares by 15 percent commencing on Saturday, February 26, 2022.

The transport unions had earlier proposed a 30 percent increase in fares but after a meeting on Monday February 21, 2022, they agreed on the 15 percent upward adjustment.

“We kindly request all commercial transport operators to comply with the new fares and post same at three loading terminals”, the transport group said in a statement.

But to Mr. Pratt, ''it's reached a period where our leaders must do something extraordinary. Everytime when there is hardship, the burden is placed on the drivers. If we don't burden the drivers, we burden the passengers...It's about time that the huge companies or corporations from foreign countries or Western countries also suffer because we can't always put the burdens on Ghanaians''.

''Why should Ghanaians be the only ones to suffer all the time while the huge multinational corporations celebrate Christmas everyday?'' he questioned.

He further stressed; ''The time has come to shift the burden from already suffering poor Ghanaians to those who benefit most from the exploitation of our resources.''

Kwesi Pratt made these submissions on Peace FM's ''Kokrokoo'' Tuesday morning.
