Despite My Sacrifices For NPP, I Beg Like A 'Kid' - Kennedy Agyapong

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has called on the members of the New Patriotic Party to lay aside their grievances in the interest of the party.

The maverick politician and business mogul revealed that it is not all rosy in the ruling party as many of the members including himself have problems with and within the party.

He made this disclosure while commenting on the behavior of the Member of Parliament for Dome/Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, who is currently based abroad and has refused to return until her demands are met by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Hon. Adwoa Safo is said to have requested the removal of the Deputy Majority Leader for her to be given the position before she will return to Parliament.

She is also said to have threatened to sabotage the government's e-levy policy proposal if she doesn't get what she wants.

In an interview with Asaase radio, the Assin Central MP has asked the President not to heed Adwoa Safo's demands.

Recounting his commitment to the NPP despite the challenges he is facing in the party, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong advised the members to not mix their personal issues with the party's fortunes, stressing the party should always come first.

''...Adwoa Safo is in Parliament in the name of NPP but we are in opposition. So, if we lose, we go to bye-election and lose; it doesn't make a difference. I tell you! For the way the girl or the woman is treating NPP party. Look, we all have problems in the party. Me, let me tell you, all the sacrifices I've made with the exception of the Judge that I was annoyed; they wanted to take my land and I insulted them, every court case that I have in this country is because of NPP but nobody in NPP has even asked 'oh how is the court case?'''

''We all have to put our grievances behind. Just as I told that I also have problems in the party. Me, I am a businessman. The way I run my mouth to defend NPP, if I want a contract, I beg like a kid. Read my lips. [Yes] I beg like a kid in NPP before they give me something and when you go there for 100, they will give you piece meal, 20. I look at them and I say lord, forgive them because they don't know what they are doing but we are still surviving. So, it's not rosy as you see it out there. We all have problems but party first'', he told the host.
