The Delegates Have Spoken; Let's Move On! - Collins Adomako Tells NPP

With the New Patriotic Party(NPP) electing new national executives, Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre North, Collins Adomako Mensah is calling on the new party leadership to unite and focus on building the fortunes of the party, particularly as it gears up for the 2024 elections.

Speaking to host Nana Yaw Kesseh on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, the MP advised the new executives and the aspirants who lost to pull resources together and unify towards a common goal as the biggest challenge lies in wait for the party in 2024.

He congratulated the newly-elected executives and delegates as well as the outgone Chairman of the party, Freddie Blay, for a successful Annual Delegates Conference held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, July 16.

"By and large, it was a very, very colorful occasion. The delegates have spoken. Just as Alan Kyerematen said some years ago 'in NPP, we believe in competition but after competition, there is cooperation'. What is important now is for us to unite and support the new crop of leadership with our strength and resources," he said.

Shocking Defeat, Near-upsets And Rapturous Jubilation

Themed; "Holding Together, Working Together", the delegates conference at the Accra Sports Stadium saw the election of the next crop of national executives expected to lead the ruling party in the 2024 General Elections.

At the end of a rather exciting and a near-incident free delegates conference, the biggest upset on the night was the trouncing of incumbent General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu by the candidate affectionately called JFK.

He lost by over 300 votes to the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Justin Kodua Frimpong (JFK)

According to official EC results, JFK grabbed 2,837 votes as John Boadu polled 2,524 out of total valid votes of 5,535.

On the National Chairman front, "Time Aso" is now the new slogan in town.

"Time Aso" - to wit - it is time, aptly encapsulated events at the conference in respect of Stephen Ayensu Ntim who took over the National Chairmanship position of thegoverning NPP.

At the end of the contest, he polled 4014 votes and his closest challenger Stephen Asamoah Boateng polled 1010 votes. Mr. George Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah also garnered 294 votes and the rest of the aspirants also polled paltry votes to give the Chairman seat to Mr. Ntim.

On the National Organizer front, Henry Nana Boakye nearly suffered a disappointment as he was almost ousted by Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover. Titus-Glover polled 2274 votes and Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B) polled 2870 votes to emerge winner.

Kate Gyamfua also had a landslide victory over her competitors to retain her seat as the National Women Organizer to lead the women wing of the NPP.
