Partey Playing Big Role in Arsenal’s Title Challenge

Heading into the 2022/23 Premier League season, Ghana international Thomas Partey had not been able to show what he was capable of for Arsenal regularly, largely down to injury frustrations.

This year has been a much different one for the Ghanian and the North London club will top the Premier League table over Christmas as the league now takes a break for the World Cup, with Arsenal five points clear of their rivals.

The Gunners have won 12 of their opening 14 matches. They have drawn one game and suffered just the sole defeat so far. As a result of that excellent start, Arsenal are second best in the football odds at 11/5 for the Premier League title, with just defending champions Manchester City ahead of them in that market.

Mikel Arteta’s side are likely to be one of the leading football naps today for when they resume their Premier League campaign against West Ham on December 26. They have won seven of their last eight matches in the league, and Partey has played his role in that run of form.

Arteta has frequently opted for a 4-3-3 formation this season, with Partey trusted with the role of playing the heart of the midfield. He has scored two goals already in the campaign, which has meant he has doubled his tally since joining the club in 2020 from Atletico Madrid.

Partey’s experience in the second half of the season is going to be very important for Arsenal. He won La Liga and the UEFA Europa League during his time in Spain, so he knows what is required to get over the line.

The two-time Ghana Player of the Year is in contention for all the leading individual awards for Arsenal and in the Premier League during the latest campaign. He is showcasing why he is considered one of the all-round midfielders in world football.
