Female rap sensation “Too Spyce” made history on Saturday December 17 when she won the ultimate prize and was awarded champion of the eleventh season of TV3’s flagship reality tv music show, MENTOR XI.

She is the first female rapper to have ever won the competition.

Following weeks of relentless competition, the energetic rapper stood out as she fiercely battled three others- Tiah, Herby and Marckel, in two rounds of performances at the grand finale of the competition last Saturday, to win the converted title of champion of Mentor XI.

“Too Spyce”, born Adwoa Owusu received GHS40,000, a return ticket for an all expenses paid trip abroad plus USD $500 spending money, GHS100,000 worth of airtime and many other prizes from sponsors.

Ultimately, the prolific rapper owns the bragging rights of holding the mentor title for the next year.

Fan-favorite Marckel, finished in second place and takes home a cash prize of GHS20,000, GHS50,000 worth of airtime and products from sponsors, while the Liberian born singing sensation Tiah finished third place with Herby taking the fourth position.

Judges for the finale, Richie, Kaywa and Adina chimed in to ease the anxiety just before the winner was announced.

Judge for the season, Lynx Entertainment CEO, Richie Mensah, who has been an integral part of training the raw talent throughout the season, encouraged the final four contestants to continue chasing their dreams post the competition.

He added “despite the harsh critique, you have really entertained us, no matter the outcome, you are all stars so leave here tonight knowing that you are the best of 2022 and that’s amazing”.

For her part, musician, Adina who was a judge for the night said; “I am proud of you all pursuing your dreams. I’m sure it is inspiring a lot of people out there. Whatever happens today, you are all stars.”

Award-winning music producer Kaywa urged the finalists to continue the pursuit of a place in the music industry, insisting that the sky is their limit.

As DJ faculty set the stage for the show, the national theatre was set ablaze with mind-blowing performances from SEFA, DSL (winner of MENTOR X) and Vanilla.
