South Dayi MP Slams NPPs Evans Nimako

NDC Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson Dafeamakpor has taken a swipe at the Director of Elections for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Mr Evans Nimako for describing the NDC as an intolerant party.

According to him Mr. Nimako should have known better and appreciate the fact the NDC as a party is equally bigger than his party and are open to policies that will not only seek the welfare of the NDC but the country as a whole.

Speaking on Okay FM's 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, he intimated that he will not tolerate such nonsense argument from him again and that he should learn to argue rather than trying to cast a slur on his political party.

"The National Democratic Congress tolerates and upholds policies that will be beneficial to Ghanaians and if we are espousing our argument, you should not descend into the gutter and describe the NDC in unprintable words," he noted.

He says they will continue to oppose the Electoral Commission's decision to lay before parliament a C.I which when passed will disenfranchise eligible Ghanaians.

It can be recalled that the issue of the EC using only the Ghana Card for the next limited voters' registration exercise become very topical in August 2022 after some officials of the Commission announced the move.

The former Chairman of the EC, Dr. Kwadwo Afari-Gyan, questioned the EC’s proposal to use only the Ghana Card for the upcoming registration exercise.

He said that the use of the Ghana Card as the only identification for voters' registration is against electoral inclusivity, fairness, and justice.

According to him, many Ghanaians are finding it difficult to get their Ghana cards; therefore, the use of the card alone can disenfranchise millions of qualified electorates.

Aside from the use of the Ghana card, the former EC boss raised other concerns about the proposed C.I, including the suggestion of having two voters’ registers.
