NDC's Alhaji Sinare Exposed Over New Kumasi Central Mosque

Prior to the commissioning of the Kumasi Central Mosque on Friday March 3, a leading member of the NDC, Alhaji Saed Sinare had waged a vehement media campaign, trying to take credit away from the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for single-handedly funding the reconstruction of the Kumasi Central Mosque.

As the old Kumasi Central Mosque was closed to the public for the reconstruction to start about 3 years ago, it was an open secret that Dr. Bawumia was single-handedly funding the reconstruction, having pledged to that during a visit to the mosque a few years back.

But to the surprise of many Muslims, especially those in Kumasi, Alhaji Sinare launched a stunning spin in the media, claiming the reconstruction of the mosque was being funded by aid from a Saudi billionaire he knew.

He sought to justify his claim by asking why had Dr. Bawumia not personally gone public to tell the world that he was the one building the mosque if indeed he was the one.

However, events at the commissioning of the mosque exposed what has turned out to be mere propaganda and lies by Alhaji Sinare as Dr. Bawumia was officially acknowledged as the one who single-handedly funded the reconstruction.

In the official brochure of the commissioning, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II revealed how Dr. Bawumia had informed him of his decision to undertake the reconstruction of the mosque and how the Vice President often sneaked into Kumasi quietly to inspect the project.

The Kumasi Central Mosque Committee, the custodians of the mosque, also publicly lauded Dr. Bawumia for personally undertaking the project.

Indeed, the Vice President himself categorically confirmed he undertook the reconstruction personally without any aid from external sources.
