Galamsey Fight: Charles Bissue Turns Himself In To Special Prosecutor

Charles Bissue, the Secretary to the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), has turned himself in to the Special Prosecutor to assist in the ongoing investigations into a case involving him.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor, on Tuesday, June 13, declared Charles Bissue wanted due to his failure to appear for interrogation into suspected corruption within the defunct IMCIM of which his name was mentioned.

Mr. Bissue recently filed a writ at the High Court in Accra against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the court, six days ago, upheld an interim injunction restraining the OSP from placing him on public notice or under arrest.

The court adjourned hearing of the substantive case to Thursday, June 22, 2023.

According to a statement sighted by Peacefmonline, Charles Bissue turned himself in to the Office of the Special Prosecutor at 11:45 am today, June 21.

"He was immediately placed under arrest, interviewed and subsequently released on bail", the statement signed by the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, said.
