'I Stepped Back And Gave My Space To My Teen Son': Wife and Mother of Titanic Sub Disaster Victims Reveals

The bereft mother of the teenager who died in the Titanic sub disaster with his billionaire father today revealed she was meant to be on board - but gave her spot to her only son because he 'really wanted to go'.

Christine Dawood and her husband Shahzada Dawood, 48, had initially booked a trip to see the world's most famous wreck for themselves off the coast of Canada but had to cancel due to the pandemic.

Christine, who is German-born, said that when their family reserved spots on this year's OceanGate Expeditions mission she 'stepped back' because her son Suleman, 19, was so keen. He became obsessed with the Titanic after completing a Lego model as a teenager. The 19-year-old also wanted to become the first person to complete a Rubik's Cube at the depths of the Atlantic, his mother revealed.
