75 Laptops For UG @ 75

The West African Genetic Medicine Centre (WAGMC), as part of the 75th Anniversary of the University of Ghana, donated seventy-five (75) laptops to 75 students at the WAGMC Laptop Fellowship awards held yesterday, 19th July, 2023 at a ceremony held at the Centre’s forecourt.

The beneficiaries/winners of the laptops are students from the West African Genetic Medicine Centre (WAGMC), University of Ghana Medical School; Department of Anatomy, Department of chemical Pathology, Department of Medical Biochemistry, Department of  Microbiology and Physiology amongst other departments of the sciences.

According to Prof. Fiifi Ofori-Acquah, the aim for the donation of the laptops to students is to enhance student’s learning and also to support the one Student one Laptop (1S1L) initiative by the vice Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, who was also in attendance. The 1S1L digitalization initiative was birthed when the University noticed during the Covid-9 pandemic that a significant number of students had no laptops therefore making participation in virtual classes challenging.
