NDC Planning to Kick Out Bank of Ghana Governor from Office – Sammy Gyamfi Hints

The National Communications Officer of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi says his party will make sure the Governor of the Bank of Ghana leaves office with immediate effect.

He told NEAT FM’s afternoon political talk show, 'Me Man Nti' that preparations are underway to stage a ‘Kume preko’ kind of demonstration to ensure governor Dr Ernest Addison vacates his post.

“We will besiege the Bank of Ghana Governor and his deputies to leave the premises of Bank of Ghana. We have given him 21 days to resign,” Sammy Gyamfi reiterated his party’s position on the Governor.

According to Sammy Gyamfi, the Governor together with the Board have disregarded the Bank of Ghana Act, which had contributed to the Bank losing close to over GH¢60 billion.

He said if the Bank that has a supervisory role over other banks could not respect the very Act that established it, then the Bank has no moral right to collapse other banks for flouting Ghana's banking regulations.

He also accused the leadership of the Bank of increasing the salaries of staff by more than 60 per cent despite the economic hardships in the country.
