House Helps And Armed Robbery

The recent spate of armed robbery is indeed scary, although, the police and other security agents are doing their best. The situation has been attributed to many factors, but one of them worth considering is the engagement of house-helps in various homes. Agents for house-helps are springing up in Accra and other regional capitals as if it was nobodys business. Most people approach the agents without any background check and are given house-helps without asking questions. It has therefore become common to hear that a houseboy or girl was an accomplice in an armed robbery case. The Enquirer newspaper would like to call on the security agencies to swoop on the agents dealing in house helps. Better still, efforts could be made to get the agents to register so that they could be held responsible in times of robbery involving any of their house-helps. Apart from that, those using house-helps should also endeavor to conceal certain important things from them. Some people go to the extent of asking their house-helps to enter their safes. It will be in the interest of all Ghanaians to come together and develop strategies that would help in curbing the high spate of armed robbery. However, the house-help and the agents recruiting them should be under close watch.
