Ghana's Music Is Suffering! The Problem Is Not Shatta Wale...Leave Him Alone!! - Mr. Logic

Artiste manager and chairman of Ghana Songwriters Association, Emmanuel Barnes, popularly known as Mr Logic, has jumped to the defence of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale over his recent comments on Nigerian Asake's successful debut at the O2 Arena, London.

Asake gave an electrifying performance in a charged auditorium filled with 20000 music lovers and following his achievement, Shatta Wale took to Twitter to pass critical comments about Ghanaian musicians and the music industry.

He tweeted; “Nigerians are making Ghana music look like feeding bottle compared to Hennessy bottle. Congrats to Asake meeenn!!!"

Shatta Wale returned with a series of posts reading "you people call me a drug addict, why should I risk my life to fill a place for Ghanaians or the music industry? I am okay, I wanted to buy house, lands and investments, I am okay, so filling the O2 is not my priority, my priority is to keep a billion dollars in my account , that is where I am at right now. Nobody should disturb me about filling the 02 or my music".

He has however been met with a caustic public backlash with some Ghanaians rebuking him for being a major reason why Ghana's music growth is hindered.

A section of the public slammed him over his constant negative remarks about his colleague musicians, wondering why he would turn back to expect Ghanaian music to blossom by envisioning Ghanaian artistes perfoming to a mammoth crowd like their Nigerian counterparts.

But Mr. Logic says Ghanaians should leave Shatta Wale alone, stressing the artiste is not the problem.

"See, Asake's music is pratically and basically a Yoruba and the use of English with melodies. It is nothing strange that these people cannot do. It's because of the push and the kind of investment these Nigerians get unless you haven't worked with a Nigerian artiste before...The problem we have is funding. Our boys don't have money. There is no money, so don't blame Wale!", he said on "United Showbiz" aired on UTV every Saturday.
