NPP Hijacked By “Behind The Curtain Power Brokers” & Unscrupulous Party Apparatchiks - Alan Kyerematen

Presidential hopeful Alan Kyerematen says he can no longer recognize the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since it has "very little resemblance to the party" he "joined in 1992"

Addressing the nation on his political future, he said the NPP has been "hijacked by a selected group of Party leaders and elders, government appointees, “behind the curtain power brokers” and some unscrupulous Party apparatchiks".

Breaking Away

Alan who believes he was given a raw deal says it is clear that the party he has cherished for long, no longer appreciates his services and contributions.

"It is abundantly clear to me, that my services and contributions to the Party are not appreciated, and that my continuous stay in the Party will create further tension and division, which is an exact replay of circumstances that led to my decision to resign from the Party in 2008," he stated.

In view of this, he announced his decision to break away from the NPP to contest as an independent candidate in 2024.

Meanwhile, he says his "decision to contest as an Independent Candidate will not destroy the Party, but rather provide the Party an opportunity to participate in a Government of National Unity in the future, and avoid the risk of going into opposition with no dividends, in what arguably will be a difficult general election in 2024".
