'I'll Vote for Bawumia' - Another MP Who Supported Alan Backtracks

Following the exit of Alan Kyerematen from the New Patriotic Party after he announced he will run as independent candidate during next year's election, another person from his camp has defected to join the Bawumia campaign.

Alan Kyerematen, on Monday, publicly declared he is no longer a member of the New Patriotic Party and cited various reasons that informed his decision.

"I joined the New Patriotic Party at the very beginning of its establishment as a Founding Member, believing in its core values and the long-standing traditions of its antecedents, predicated on fairness, equity, probity, accountability, and transparency.

"...the NPP as it exists now has very little resemblance to the Party that I joined in 1992 and helped to nurture. The Party has been hijacked by a selected group of Party leaders and elders, government appointees, 'behind the curtain power brokers” and some unscrupulous Party apparatchiks",
he said at a press conference in Accra.

He also established that "it is abundantly clear" to him that his "services and contributions to the Party are not appreciated, and that my continuous stay in the Party will create further tension and division, which is an exact replay of circumstances that led to my decision to resign from the Party in 2008".

In view of this position by Alan, MP for Anyaa Sowutuom constituency, Dickson Adomako Kissi, who strongly supported Alan Kyerematen's bid to become NPP flagbearer and played a key role in his campaign team, has moved to the other side of the political divide.

According to him, he now supports the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

"As it stands, the most likely option for me will be to support Vice President in a way...I will vote for the Vice President; I think that will be the most appropriate thing," he told Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show.
