Don't Sit Idle In Your Rooms; Go And Market The Party! - Majority Leader Charges NPP Parliamentary Aspirants & MPs

Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has charged all parliamentary candidates of the governing New Patriotic Party to hit the ground running if the party will win majority seats in Parliament.

Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin advised the aspirants and his fellow Parliamentarians not to let the 2020 parliamentary results repeat itself in the next Parliament.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress in 2020 split the seats into halves.

Both parties attained 137 seats each and 1 independent candidate who shared his affiliation with the NPP for the party to seemingly have a majority position in the House of Legislature.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM's morning show "Kokrokoo" with Kwami Sefa Kayi, Hon. Afenyo-Markin admonished the party's parliamentary aspirants and Members of Parliament to reach out to the grassroots, move from home to home directly engaging the masses soliciting votes for themselves and the New Patriotic Party.

"We should focus and do our work well. Effective politics is not done in the room. It's not about sitting on the radio or holding big rallies; I don't believe in rallies. Go and explain to the people"

"Work hard, go to the grassroots. Go, go, go and market your party. Don't sit idle and think you have already won. Don't let somebody tell you this place is a no-go area. I tell you that there's nothing like no-go area in politics. Go and reach out to them. Talk to them; engage them!", he urged.

He further asked them to communicate the good works of the President to aid the New Patriotic Party to break the 8-year governance cycle.

"Let's rise and stay united. We should publicize the good works by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. We should also admit our mistakes where we make them."
