NDCs Heroes Fund Concept Is Nonsense And Bogus Sir John

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John, has rubbished the NDCs heroes fund referring to it as nonsense and bogus. Though the NPP has not issued an official statement on the fund, the General Secretary said the NPP believed the concept of a heroes fund as proposed by the NDC was to incite violence in the 2012 elections. How could anybody in his right senses think that in elections, people are just going to get injured except that theres a plan for violence? You know that if theres a plan for violence, then its not only one person who gets hurt. Like the NPP, we believe that the elections are going to be free and fair and that we are going to be determined to ensure that Ghana gets the best out of our electoral process. We do not have any fund that is called heroes fund and so first of all it speaks volumes of the NDCs age of violent nature which is why they have set the fund up but we will give them an appropriate report. He said the NDC needed to re-think the whole concept, adding that if they think they can introduce violence in our body politics and get away with it they are joking. They will meet their waterloo if they do so, he added. Sir John, however, clarified that the NPP would only defend themselves in the event of an attack on their supporters. According to him, since NDC is the governing party, they needed to assure Ghanaians of a free and fair election just as the Nana Akufo Addo led NPP did when they lost the 2008 elections. The NPP Chief Scribe explained that the concept of all die be die means that we will not stand by and fold our arms at our backs to allow the NDC to attack us, snatch ballot boxes and steal as they always do. We will defend ourselves. He reiterated that all he expects from the president and his vice is an assurance that there would be no violence in 2012, adding that if such an assurance is given, there will not be the need for anyone to be afraid of the all die be die concept.
