BECE Will Surely Come Off...We're 90% Done With Preparations - WAEC PRO

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has assured that this year's Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) will come off as scheduled.

According to the Public Relations Officer of WAEC, John Kapi, in an interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, about 90 percent of preparations by the Council is done.

He therefore is optimistic that the BECE will be written by the students.

WAEC expects government to pay over 90 million cedis to conduct the exams.

According to reports, WAEC has received only GH¢2.3 million out of GH¢95.83 million which, to them, is not enough to organize the exams scheduled to begin on Monday, July 8 to July 15.

The examining body is demanding at least 50 percent payment of the total amount to commence the exams.

Due to this, there were fears that the BECE may be canceled but Mr. John Kapi has allayed these fears, stating "we have done the preparations...We can indeed do it. The printing and stationery are all ready".
