GIPC Moves To Canada

Ghana and Canada have been engaged in a series of exploratory discussions towards the signing of a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT). Following these exploratory discussions, Ghana and Canada are expected to commence substantive negotiations. It is for this reason that George Aboagye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) is leading a team of experts from his outfit and other ministries to the first round of such discussions scheduled for Ottawa, Canada from Wednesday, June 22 to Friday, June 24, 2011. These ministries include Trade & Industry; Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration; Finance and Economic Planning, and Justice. According to Mr Aboagye, These negotiations underscore the strong political and socio-economic relationship between the two countries which dates back several decades. The BIT will enhance the growth of business relations between Ghana and Canada through the provision of internationally recognised investment promotion and protection framework.
