VIP To Perform @ Nigerian Entertainment Awards In New York

Following their outstanding performance in the Ghanaian music industry over the past years, Vision In Progress (VIP) has been tipped to win the Pan African Artist of the Year award at this year�s Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA). The event is slated for September 4 at the Sharp Theatre at Symphony Space in New York. The Pan African Artist of the Year category has other nominees such as Fally Ipupa (DRC), R2Bees (Ghana), Awilo (Congo), Winky D (Zimbabwe), Juliana Kanyomozi (Ugandan) and VIP (Ghana). Members of VIP, who rocked the Big Brother Amplified eviction show two weeks ago, will be performing at the awards ceremony. They are expected to rock the show with some of their hit-tracks which include �I Think I Like Am�, �Away�, �Bessin�, �Am In Love With Two Women� among others. VIP, made up of Promzy (Emmanuel Promzy Ababio), Prodigal (Joseph Nana Ofori) and Lazzy (Abdul Hamid Ibrahim), swept the Artiste of the Year and Hiplife/Hiphop Artiste of the Year awards at the 12th edition of the MTN Ghana Music Awards at the Accra International Conference Centre on April 9. The group won the Best Group music video in the 4syte Music Video Awards, Artiste of the Year at the City People Awards and the Best Group at Joy FM�s �Nite with the Stars�. VIP has over the years held its own and still stands as one of the best music groups in the country, if not the best, with wide international recognition. Their hit song, �Ahomka Womu�, released a couple of years back, was number one on the Ghanaian chart for over 20 weeks and catapulted them into international fame. VIP has collaborated with other Ghanaian artistes such as Castro, K.K. Fosu, Tic Tac, FOI, and Quata. The group appeared in several international hit singles such as �My Love� alongside 2 Face Idibia and �Two Women� with Tony Tetulia from Nigeria. They�ve done other international music collaborations with the Swatta Camp of South Africa, Awadi of Senegal and Juliet Endee of Liberia. Currently, VIP is under Paradise Entertainment Management and their sixth album is making waves following the huge success of the Hiplife documentary, �HomeGrown�, produced by independent film maker Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi and Hashim Haruna of Boogie Down Nima Productions. This year�s NEA nominees highlight new and young talents that are destined to shape the future of African entertainment. In the music categories, Wizkid, Darey, Dbanj and Duncan Mighty lead this year�s pack with three nominations each. Wizkid was nominated for Hottest Single of the Year, Best New Act of the Year and Best Pop/R&B Artist of the Year.The Hottest Single of the Year category is shaping up to be one of the key categories to look out for this year. The Best New Act of the Year category also showcases the best and newest talent to enter the game.In the TV and Film categories, big names �Tinsel� and Jeta Amata�s �Inale� both received four nominations. The Pan African Actor and Actress of the Year categories are quite exciting and feature the who�s who in African Film industry. Voting began on June 22, 2011 at www.nigeriaentawards.com, and will end on August 27, 2011. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on September 4, 2011.
