Nigeria U23 Players Claim Ghanaians Pelted Them With Bottles

The tension between Ghana and Nigeria is rising ahead of the crucial clash between the two U23 sides in the All African Games final qualifier in Kumasi on Sunday. The Vanguard newspaper reported in Nigeria on Sunday that Ghanaian pelted Nigeria players while they were training at the Kumasi Stadium on Saturday. The report also claimed that war song were being chanted by the fans in Kumasi to intimidate the Nigerian side. The Black Meteors were shabbily treated in the first leg when they were housed in a dodgy hotel while they were made to train on a field were people were freely defecating. This has prompted fear among the Nigerians that they will be mistreated in Ghana and have used the report on Sunday to claim they are been harshly treated. The Vanguard report said: Nigerias U-23 soccer team are in for real trouble today when they tackle the Black Meteors as Ghanaian fans are set to upset them following the attack on the Austin Eguavoen-tutored team in training yesterday. According to our reporter on ground at the Kumasi Stadium yesterday, the Nigerians were not allowed free hand to train as the Ghanaian fans pelted them with bottles during training, with chants of war aimed to intimidate them.
