Accredited journalists billed to cover the 2011 MTN FA Cup finals were brutally assaulted and severely beaten-up by security officials in their attempt to discharge their core duties. Policemen blocked all entries to the inner perimeter after the match where journalist accredited to go for post-match reaction on the pitch. Accreditation gave the journalist access to the pitch but in their attempt to gain access they were brutally assaulted. Not even pleas by some famous sports journalists in the country was enough to convince the unruly policemen in granting access. In a brutal show of force, GHANAsoccernet�s Ameenu Shardow was manhandled and beaten like a common criminal. But for the timely intervention GFA vice President Fred Pappoe Mr. Shardow could have been killed by the policemen who were caught on camera. But the GHANAsoccernet journalist is not the only person who suffered the terrible assault as several journalists have complained of similar attacks. The young journalist will be lodging an official complaint to the Police Service and if possible pursue legal action against the amateur policemen whose duty was to protect lives and property at the Stadium. The policemen involved have been identified and captured on camera and would be dealt with according to the laws of the country which frowns on assault on its citizens. Organisers of the competition are yet to explain the poor security detail was out of control and threatened to mar the beautiful event. Some journalists are threatening not to cover any of events by the organiser after Sunday�s ordeal.
