Ghana legend Abedi Pele could be banned from coaching in the country despite leading his second tier side Nania FC to the FA Cup title. A new law in Ghana to be implemented from next season means coaches without certificates will not be allowed to work in the country. But the three-time African Player of Year achieved this momentous feat last Sunday when beating giants Kotoko 1-0 in the final, without a coaching certificate. But the new law could affect his ambition of coaching the club he owns. This comes after it emerged that several coaches are working in Ghana youth�s system without certificate are giving the wrong training methods to youngsters. If this law is implemented, it means with all the rich experience by observing some of world�s best coaches and being a top ex-player, Abedi won�t be able to coach in the country. Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has vowed, two weeks ago, to weed out local coaches who fail to acquire the necessary license. Nyantakyi, 43, wants coaches in the country to upgrade their knowledge by getting the requisite certificates to back their credentials. �In the next couple of months, coaches who do not have coaching certificates will be extinguished and won�t be allowed to coach even colts teams,� Nyantakyi said. �Some are just doing so on the basis of God-given talents, but we must move beyond that and be practical and learn the latest trends and dynamics of the game by becoming professionals.� This new rule has been welcomed in many quarters but the achievement of Abedi Pele could force a rethink of the criteria for those who must acquire coaching certificates.
