Movie Stars To Dribble Football Administrators

They are often fluent and move sleekly on screen but would those qualities be enough for some of our top actors to dribble their way past and beat some of the nations best-known football administrators at their own game? The answer will come clear from 3.00pm next Sunday, July 31 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi when a select side of actors meet football administrators in a fund-raising fun match organised by Swanzy Essumans Koba Consult. Expected to be in jersey for the actors include Majid Michel, John Dumelo, Nana Ama Mac Brown, Agya Koo, Jackie Appiah, Ecow Smith Asante, Psalm Adjetefio, Mr. Beautiful, Waakye and Osofagus. The football administrators will raise their team from personalities such as KwesiNyantakyi (Ghana Football Association (GFA) president), Fred Pappoe (GFA vice president), George Afriyie (Unity FC), Randy Abbey (GFA spokesperson), Moses Armah Paker (Medeama FC), Osei Palmer (Tema Youth), Abdul Salam Yakubu (Edubiase FC), KK Sarpong (Kotoko), Alhaji Gruzah (King Faisal) and Fred Crenstil (Hearts of Oak). Beaming with confidence about how prepared the actors are for the game, Nana Ama Mac Brown, a former player with the Kumasi-based Fabulous Ladies football club said the administrators should not take the actors for granted because some of them are more than professional players. Im more than prepared for this game because I have been a footballer before and my presence in the game would be significantly felt. The popular Agya Koo also told Showbiz that if the football administrators do not go in for professional footballers, then they should be prepared for a big disgrace. We would definitely beat them. I was a good footballer but acting has taken the better part of me now but I would use this opportunity to show Ghanaians how skilful I am on the pitch, he said. The fun game is dubbed Not Only That and, according to the Koba Consult CEO, is meant to raise funds for donation to selected orphanages and the refurbishment of the Ghana Actors Guild secretariat. It is also to provide an opportunity for possible business collaboration between the two parties. Sports administrators are always busy with the day to day running of their teams and usually dont benefit from fun games, said Swanzy Essuman. Actors are also busy with their activities relating to film production and do not mostly benefit from sporting exercises. He added that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was selected to host the game because Kumasi is the hub of film production in the country at the moment and is home for many popular screen faces. That could attract lots of fans to the stadium, he said. The Koba Consult CEO pointed out that the game is to be an annual event and some Nigerian actors would be invited for the next edition.
