UPDATE: TOR In Danger As Warehouse Catches Fire

Fire officers in Tema are still struggling to extinguish a ferocious fire that swept through a B5 ware house close to the Tema Oil Refinery storage facility on the Kpone road on Friday July 5. The entire building of the warehouse has been destroyed but fire fighters said efforts are ongoing to bring the fire under control. Properties running into millions of Ghana cedis were destroyed. The Chief Fire Officer for Tema, Timothy Affum told Citi news access to the warehouse has been challenging. He said we have been able to bring the fire under control but this does not mean we have extinguished the fire. We have gotten some excavators to break into the warehouse to have access to the feet of the fire. For now we have been able to get access to roof of the building and we are putting in foam mixture and the situation has gone down but we have not put off the fire completely. What is happening is that the warehouse has a poor home management which means the pattern has been done haphazardly so there are no alleys through which a person can pass to one end so what we have done now is to get access to the place from the back through another premise of the company and that is what has given us some minimal access to the fire.
